Your Guide to 2026 FIFA World Cup Tickets: Sales, Key Dates, and Essential Information

Football & Cricket

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, set to commence on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, details regarding ticket acquisition for fans have been revealed. This historic tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marks the first time 48 teams will participate, expanding from the previous 32. This larger format introduces an additional knockout round of 32 teams after the group stage, preceding the traditional Round of 16.

While not all qualifying teams are yet confirmed, more nations are securing their spots during each international break leading up to the World Cup draw in December, following the inter-confederation playoffs. However, even before the draw, the lottery-based ticketing program is scheduled to begin on September 10, offering fans an early opportunity to secure highly coveted tickets for this major event.

How the Ticketing System Works

Prospective attendees can currently register their interest by creating a FIFA ID on the official FIFA website, a prerequisite for ticket purchases. The initial ticket draw will occur on September 10, allowing selected fans the chance to buy tickets. Given the immense demand for World Cup tickets, sales opportunities will be released progressively from September 10 through July 19, 2026.
