Zinedine Zidane has unequivocally stated his intention to return to football management following a four-year hiatus. While acknowledging his deep affection for Juventus, he suggested that a move to the Italian club is improbable at this time, as his primary ambition lies in managing the France national team.
Speaking at the Festival dello Sport in Trento over the weekend, the legendary former player for Juventus and Real Madrid shared insights into his illustrious career. He reflected on his time in Italy, his experience guiding stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, and Karim Benzema, and his prospective future endeavors.
Zidane`s Aspiration: Coaching the National Team
During the event, Zidane, who hasn`t been active in professional football since his second departure from Real Madrid in 2021—a period during which he notably secured three Champions League titles—was directly asked about his plans to re-enter coaching. His clear response was:
“I will definitely return.”
Regarding the possibility of taking the helm at Juventus, a club close to his heart, Zidane commented:
“I don`t know. It hasn`t happened before, I made other decisions. Juve will always hold a special place for me; they gave me so much when I first arrived there.”
He further elaborated on his future aspirations:
“As for the future, I`m uncertain. My strong inclination is to coach the national team someday, though not necessarily immediately. I`d love to do it eventually, but we`ll have to wait and see.”
