A New York lawmaker asks the ICC to host World Cup games 2023. There is no denying that cricket is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. The sport has gained traction in the USA as well with the introduction of the MLC (Major League Cricket). A legislator from New York City asked ICC chair Greg Barclay to take the Twenty20 World Cup matches in her city into consideration as evidence of the same.

Notably, the USA and the West Indies will co-host the upcoming T20I World Cup in 2024. Additionally, a delegation from the ICC named New York as one of the most likely locations to host World Cup games in 2024. Jenifer Rajkumar, a New York-born Assemblywoman, spoke about the subject and presented her argument.

“New York is the perfect host city for the World Cup because it is the centre of American cricket. We have 59 cricket grounds, an estimated 100 cricket clubs, and many leagues. Even the NYPD runs a youth cricket league on a regular basis. The Staten Island Cricket Club, which was established in 1872, is also proud to be the oldest continuously operating cricket club in the United States, according to Rajkumar.
