Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will Undergo Extensive Renovations

Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will undergo extensive renovations to host 5 matches. Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will get a serious facelift before the 2019 50-over World Cup, which is due to take place in October-November. The stadium would receive an investment of INR 20 to 25 crore to improve its facilities after being chastised in the past for lacking basic cleanliness.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recognised Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Mohali as venues needing significant improvements in April following a gap analysis. Mohali was not included on the list of World Cup locations, while the other four will hold games during the competition.

Despite the sport’s tremendous popularity and the board’s considerable financial benefits, the BCCI has acknowledged the need to fix the subpar infrastructure in Indian stadiums.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association’s (DDCA) joint secretary, Rajan Manchanda, thanked the BCCI for giving them five games and stressed their commitment to enhancing the fan experience. Around 10,000 spectator seats will be replaced, restrooms will be restored, the paint job will be upgraded, and the ticketing software will undergo some alterations. By September 15, the DDCA hopes to have finished all the renovations.

“We must offer our supporters sanitary restrooms, hygienic food, and water at a fair price. Additionally, the housekeeping team’s size will be expanded. We aim to finish everything by September 15th.

The DDCA will enhance the size of its housekeeping crew and offer the fans reasonably priced, sanitary food and water in order to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. In the third week of July, the BCCI and International Cricket Council (ICC) will thoroughly assess the location, including the pitch and outfield. Fans will be exposed to the sun during matches since the open stands cannot be covered with a roof due to a construction defect.
