David Warner scores the fastest 1,000 runs in an ODI in the World Cup. During his team’s match against India on Sunday in Chennai, Australia’s opener became the ODI World Cup’s fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs.
Warner broke the previous mark of 20 innings held by Sachin Tendulkar and AB de Villiers by reaching the milestone in 19 innings. Warner accomplished the feat after walking out to begin the inning by hitting a straight shot that found the boundary in the seventh over of Hardik Pandya’s bowling.
So far in World Cups, Warner has three fifty-sevens and four hundreds. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, is also vying for the top spot. With 22 more runs, Rohit would surpass Warner, who has 978 in 17 innings.
