Dominica has decided not to host games during the 2024 T20 World Cup. Because Dominica is unable to satisfy implementation schedules, the government has decided not to host any matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.

Three World Cup matches were scheduled to take place at Windsor Park in Dominica: two T20 World Cup first-round matches and one Super 8 match.

The Dominican Government retracted from the World Cup because to unfinished preparations and the infrastructure’s late arrival. The government’s announcement of the decision is available in the statement below.

In June 2024, the United States and the West Indies will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. After expressing interest in hosting several of these highly anticipated matches at Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS), the Dominican Republic was selected as a host nation for one group stage match and two Super 8 games, provided that it fulfilled the requirements outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).”

“However, it became evident that these activities could not be completed in the allocated time before the competition began when the implementation schedules of the various contractors were revealed. As a result, it was determined that it would be imprudent for the Dominican Republic to commit to hosting any of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 matches.

“This choice is regarded as being in everyone’s best interests, given Dominica’s excellent reputation as a venue for international cricket matches. Thanking Cricket West Indies (CWI) for its years of engagement, the Dominican Republic government looks forward to further years of cooperation. The Dominican Republic’s government sends its warmest wishes to the organisers for a prosperous competition in June 2024.”

Recall that the seven Caribbean locations for the 2024 T20 World Cup matches—Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St. Vincent & the Grenadines were confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on June 4th.

In addition to the Caribbean Islands, three American locations, Grand Prairie, Texas; Broward County, Florida; and Nassau County, New York, were.
