ENG Vs BAN Warm-up Match, Guwahati, Full Inning Summary - BAN Inning

50-overs game has just reduced to 37-overs per side as rain hit Guwahati again in the warm-up match between England and Bangladesh. The Bangladesh skipper’s decision to bat first didn’t go in their way as the Tigers’ only set the total of 188 for the loss of 9 wicket. 

Earlier in the warm-up game of Men’s ODI Worldcup 2023, Bangla Openers: Tanzid Hasan & Litton Kumar Das took charge against English pace attack Reece Toplay & Sam Curren and  got a flying start in the  practice game of ICC ODI Worrldcup 2023, India.

Reece Toplay looked unplayable as he took 2 wickets in his 1st 3-overs spell. Summarily, Reece Topley from England and Tanzid Hasan from Bangladesh were the pick of the players in the 1st Powerplay 1-10 overs. Bangladesh managed to score 47/2 in the mandatory powerplay. 

The 2nd powerplay of the warm-up ICC Men’s ODI CWC 2023 between BAN vs ENG was also proved economical for both of the teams. Bangladesh started building the inning against fiery English  bowlers.  Tanzid and Miraz looked in good touch with 50+ partnership until Wood came in to shatter Tanzid’s stumps. This time 52 runs partnership was broken by an inside edge and Tanzid went back to the pavillion after scoring 45 off 44.

The experienced campaigner, Mushfiq and Miraz rebuilt the inning when Rashid came through to the defences of Mushfiq and gave him a taste of his own medicine. Muhamadullah also tried to extend the partnership but couldn’t succeed. Undoubtedly, The command totally was in control of Mehidy Hasan Miraz as he steadily continued his fight against the mighty bowling attack. He completed his fifty on 64 balls with a strike rate of 78 including seven 4s.

Surprisingly, Buttler utilised 9 different bowlers in the whole inning. Still they couldn’t defeat Miraz’s defence.  Rain caused match to reduce from 50 to 37. At the end of the 2nd powerplay, Bangladesh managed to score 153 for 5. Conclusively, Bangladeshi batter sneak 108 runs in the whole powerplay giving away 3 wickets. As usual, Adil Rashid, stunned the batters with his superb spin bowling and got 2 wickets conceding only 27  in his 5 overs. On the other hand, Miraz was unbeatable with his 70 runs during the 2nd powerplay of 1st inning of ICC Men’s CWC23, India. 

Rain interruption reduced the match to 37 overs which meant Bangladesh needed to go big as they had 5 wickets in hand. But, the 3rd Powerplay panicked the Tigers’ lineup and they couldn’t make full use of the remaining part of the ICC’s CWC23 Warm-up match.  Rain affected Bangladesh a bit as the resumption caused chaos in their lineup.

Sam Curren conquered Tohid Hridoy in the 32nd over of the inning which caught by J. Root. The next batter also proved a sandwall against the England’s pace-factory. David Willey took 2 back to back wickets and did what Tigers’ wasn’t expecting. First Mehidy, scoring 74 off 89 and then Nasum on duck went back to the pavillion in 34th over of the inning when Bangladesh were on 173. Then, Reece Toplay’s Yorker dismissed Mahedi Hasan in the following over too.

Bangladeshi team only managed to score 35 runs in the ultimate 7-overs powerplay for the loss of 5 wickets. Their last powerplay only brought them 3 boundaries which is the proof of England’s Bowling strength. Reece Topley was the hottest and trickiest bowler to deal with as he grabbed 3 wickets in his 5 overs giving away only 23. Bangladesh’s total is 188/9 and England need 197 (DLS target) in 37 overs to win this warm-up game of the ICC Cricket WC 2023.

The Bangladeshi inning included ninteen 4s and three 6s. England permitted 13 extras to the Tigers for further extending the target.
