A few overs from the second new ball were also negotiated by Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey, who stood strong in the middle until the very end. Before lunch, Khawaja and David Warner combined for over 100 runs, with the former scoring a blistering fifty to give the hosts the upper hand. Pakistan’s top bowler, Shaheen Afridi, went for a few too many runs as the pacers struggled with line and length. Just before the first session ended, they were able to establish some rhythm.

The Aussies’ incredible first day comes to an end! The ‘Pocket Dynamo’, David Warner, delivered a big dad hundred that was undoubtedly the highlight. Additionally, he overtook Michael Clarke and Matthew Hayden to enter the top 5 Australian run scorers in Test cricket. Pakistan was outplayed in the opening session, but they managed to recover a little bit, particularly after tea.
