Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah got injured, doubtful for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah got injured, doubtful for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah of Pakistan may not play in the 2023 Asia Cup because of injuries they sustained during their Super 4 match against India in Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan were selected by the Pakistan Cricket Board as back-up players for the rest of the competition.

Despite the PCB’s decision to withhold information regarding the full degree of Haris and Naseem’s ailments, it looks like neither right-arm seamer will likely play in Pakistan’s crucial Super 4 match against Sri Lanka on Thursday. The Pakistani team management would not want to jeopardise two of their best fast bowlers with the World Cup only a few weeks away.

“This is just a precautionary step with the players’ health and fitness in mind before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup starts next month. The team’s medical staff will continue to keep an eye on Haris and Naseem. If Naseem or Haris are declared out for the next seven days, the team management will merely ask the ACC technical committee for a substitute, the PCB stated in a late-Monday media statement.

As the rain prevented it from being completed on Sunday, the India vs. Pakistan game was played over two days. On the reserve day, Pakistan’s bowlers had to return and bowl the final 25.5 overs in oppressive heat. On the reserve day, Haris sat out. The PCB notified the team that the pacer had complained of “discomfort in his right flank” prior to the start of play on Monday. He was offered rest as a precaution even though scans did not show a tear. On Sunday, Rauf had completed five overs.

On the other hand, near the close of India’s innings on the reserve day, Naseem was hurt. After bowling two balls in the 49th over, he made the decision to leave the pitch. Iftikhar Ahmed, a part-time off-spinner, delivered the final four overs.
