ICC ODI World Cup 2023 won't have an opening ceremony

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 won’t have an opening ceremony. The much-awaited ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is expected to get underway on October 5 at Ahmedabad’s illustrious Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium with a match between the two previous tournament finalists, England and New Zealand.

According to Rev Sports, a new announcement has stated that there will not be an opening ceremony for this important event, which is a custom for major competitions.

Prior to the tournament’s start, on October 4, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had scheduled a magnificent opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Renowned Bollywood actors including Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreyas Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle were scheduled to appear at the occasion. To kick off the 2023 World Cup in India, fireworks and a laser spectacle were also anticipated.

Following the Captains’ Day celebration at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the star-studded opening ceremony was set to begin at 7 PM IST. While Captains’ Day is still scheduled to take place, the opening has not yet received an official announcement.

The eleven captains, including Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, will be in Ahmedabad for the Captains’ Day. Three days later, in Chennai, Team India will open their championship campaign against Australia, which has won the World Cup five times and is going for a sixth.

On October 14, India and Pakistan will square off in one of the tournament’s most anticipated games at the Ahmedabad site.

The Indian squad performed admirably during the just-finished Asia Cup, winning after defeating Sri Lanka. Additionally, they extended their winning streak by defeating Australia 2-1 in a three-match series on home soil.

In contrast, the Pakistani team performed poorly at the Asia Cup, and there have been rumors that several of their senior players are having personal problems. Their difficulties have been exacerbated by Naseem Shah’s injury, a fast bowler. It will be interesting to see how the Pakistani team responds to these challenges in the next esteemed competition.
