ICC World Cup 2023: Faf du Plessis predicts that India will be difficult to defeat

ICC World Cup 2023: Faf du Plessis predicts that India will be difficult to defeat. Faf du Plessis, a former captain of South Africa, has offered his opinions on the World Cup favourites. The competition is slated to start on October 5 in India. Du Plessis noted the strength of South Africa’s cricket team but emphasised that the host nation, India, and the five-time World Champions, Australia, would be strong competitors.

In 1983 and 2011, India successfully defended its 50-over World Cup title. Australia has a strong track record, having won five of the last nine competitions. In the semifinals of the most recent World Cup, which was held in 2019, both Australia and India lost. South Africa was unable to reach the final four.

Faf du Plessis expressed his opinion that India and Australia would fare better in the competition due to the favourable combination of home conditions and prior success in an interview with the ICC prior to the prestigious event.

“I believe South Africa has a really strong team. In favourable home conditions, it will be challenging to defeat a team like India. With them being so successful in ICC competitions, Australia is the other team that you should never write off, according to Faf du Plessis.

South Africa won the series against the Netherlands 2-0 to secure their spot in 2023 despite being regarded as a World Cup contender. South Africa has historically had difficulty progressing to the final round, but they have been successful in India, winning the 2015–16 series 3-2 and narrowly losing the subsequent series 2-1. On October 7 in Delhi, the Proteas played their opening World Cup match against Sri Lanka.
