India Beat Afghanistan by 8 Wickets Leaving 90 Balls to Spare Courtesy of Rohit’s Hundred

India won the second match against Afghanistan by 8 Wickets with 15 overs remaining. Rohit Sharma with his record fastest World Cup 100 for India. He and Ishan gave India the start they were looking for. At the end of the first powerplay, India was on 94 without losing any wickets. Rohit made 131 runs for 84 balls with a healthy strike rate while Ishan got out cheaply for 47 with a 100 strike rate. 

The Rohit inning was a treat to watch. The Hitman hit 5 sixes in his 131-run inning. The number of 4s was 16. 94 runs came from boundaries. The strike rate was exceptional. Indian team is now high in confidence to meet Pakistan in Ahmadabad. 

Virat, Ishan, and Iyer also had a good batting practice before the India vs Pakistan match. Kohli strikes another 50 after a great inning against Australia in the first match. Iyer also looked good for his 20+ runs in the match. He smashed the biggest six 101 meters of the ICC World Cup 2023. 

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. There was no flow in the Afghanistan inning except for Hashamatullah and Aznmatullah. They only managed to post a modest total of 272 in their 50 overs.

The total was chased down by India in 35 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Afghanistan needed wickets but couldn’t do it repeatedly. A massive win for India to boost their confidence as well as the Run Rate.

India is in the second position on the points tally. New Zealand is still leading the table by 4 points with a healthy run rate. Pakistan is in third place because of the run rate. Pakistan also has 4 points.
