Maheesh Theekshana claims that England "underestimated" us

Maheesh Theekshana claims that England “underestimated” us. Maheesh Theekshana, a spinner for Sri Lanka, claimed on Thursday that his team “underestimated” the defending champions England in their crucial ICC World Cup 2023 match.

In Bengaluru, the island nation dismissed a faltering England for 156 in 34 overs and reached their target with 146 balls remaining.

England, captained by Jos Buttler, lost their fourth straight game and are now in danger of being eliminated from the ICC World Cup 2023, while Sri Lanka managed to save a trip to the semi-finals.

“We only won against the Netherlands and we also lost three games, so I think they undervalued our team.” Theekshana told reporters, “I think they underestimated us.”

“We won the game today because we backed our strength and followed a straightforward plan, which is why the outcome went our way.”

After returning dismal figures of 1-21 with his mysterious spin, Maheesh Theekshana said, “We have won two matches so far, which has increased our confidence as a team a lot.” And we achieved a very joyful victory in this match.

“Our goal as a team is to advance to the semifinals by performing well in the next four games.”

Lahiru Kumara, a fast bowler, made an impression with figures of 3-35. Pathum Nissanka (77), and Sadeera Samarawickrama (65), however, led the team home with an undefeated 137-run partnership.

After replacing the injured Matheesha Pathirana, Mathews made an immediate impact by taking Dawid Malan’s first wicket for 38 and later dismissing Moeen Ali for 15.

After playing 106 Tests and 222 ODIs for Sri Lanka since 2008, Mathews threw up just 14 runs in his five overs of medium-pace bowling, which included a maiden.

“As a squad, we are overjoyed that a player with so much experience has joined our group. He’s performed in India. Regarding the seasoned all-rounder, Maheesh Theekshana remarked, “We have a lot to learn from him.”

We made use of his experience during the game even when we bowled. The presence of a player with such experience makes the entire team very happy.
