Nico Paz Explains Decision to Stay with Como Over Real Madrid Return

Football & Cricket

Nico Paz has clarified his choice to extend his stay with Italian club Como for the upcoming season. This announcement follows Real Madrid’s confirmation that the Argentine player has decided against returning to the Spanish capital this summer.

Real Madrid issued a statement on their official website and social media channels, stating: “Real Madrid C.F., Como 1907, and Nico Paz have reached an agreement for the player to remain at the Italian club for the 2026-2027 season. This agreement, which has been made at the player’s own request, also provides that Real Madrid retains a unilateral buy-back option for Nico Paz’s federative rights for the 2027-2028 season.”

The club management at the Bernabéu will have the opportunity to reacquire Paz, who has had another impressive campaign in Serie A, for a pre-agreed fee in 12 months. The 21-year-old himself has since provided his perspective on this significant career decision.

In comments shared by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Paz explained his rationale: “I have decided that the best option for my career at this moment is to stay at Como for another year — the club that gave me the opportunity to grow. I personally believe this is the best decision both for me and for Real Madrid.”
