No India vs Pakistan match in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup; Pakistan issues severe warning to India counterparts and reaffirmed that if BCCI does not send its team across the border for Asia Cup 2023, no IND vs PAK game will be played in India during the upcoming Men’s ICC Cricket World Cup.
The development came after Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Shareef established a prominent 11-person group to focus on Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be hosted in India later this year. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the foreign minister, is in charge of the committee.
“Among the eleven ministers who will serve on the committee is Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The PM, who is also the PCB’s patron-in-chief, will hear our discussion of the problem and receive our recommendations. Ehsaan Mazari, Pakistan’s Minister of Sports, stated that the Prime Minister would make the final choice.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s plea to visit their homeland for the Asia Cup 2023 has been flatly rejected by the BCCI. After numerous meetings, the BCCI and PCB came to the decision that the continental competition will follow a hybrid format, with India playing its matches outside of Pakistan. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host the Asia Cup in 2023.
“Since Pakistan is the host nation, all of the games may be played there. I don’t want a hybrid model; that’s what cricket fans want, the sports minister declared.
Ehsaan Mazari added that Pakistan will suffer the same fate if India refused to visit for the 2023 Asia Cup and 2023 Cricket World Cup, respectively.
Since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is under my ministry, in Ehsaan Mazari’s words, “I personally believe that if India demands to play their Asia Cup games at a neutral venue, we would also demand the same for our World Cup games in India.”
Pakistan has not yet declared if it would take part in the World Cup 2023, despite the ICC having made the full schedule available. The 11-member committee that was recently created has now been given control over the decision to visit India by the PCB.
In the coming days, the new PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf will travel to South Africa to take part in an important ICC conference. There will also be BCCI secretary Jay Shah, and it is anticipated that both the ICC World Cup and the Asia Cup 2023 would be discussed.
