England are 282/9 at the End of Inning! Sam Curren Goes for 14

ICC Men’s Cricket Worldcup officiates without opening ceremony and here we go to the live action of the tournament. The Finalists of the 2019 ODI WC: England and New Zealand meet at Ahmedabad, India for the opening match of the CWC23, India. A number of 45 matches will be played in this round-stage with each team playing 9 games.

Earlier in the game, Williamson, who is injured, let Latham be the skipper for the opening game of the ICC Worldcup 2023. Jos Buttler, English skipper joins Ravi Shastri in the middle for the coin-battle. Tom Latham wins the toss and elected to bowl first. Interestingly, Buttler too wanted to bowl first but lost the toss.

Jonny Bairstow and David Malan open the innings for England whilst Trent Boult gets the ball in hand for his opening spell. England team off to a flying start as Bairstow welcomes Boult with a six butt Matt Henry too begins with a maiden.

Both openers provide 40 run stand for the opening partnership when Malan edges Henry’s ball to the keeper’s hands. With this dismissal, England are 40/1 in 7.4 in this encounter. Joe Root joins the other opener for the quest of making runs.

The opening match of ICC’s Cricket WC23 transforms Jonny Bairstow a bit as he opt out of Bazball-strategy. He plays sensibly in the 1st power play but Santer traps him in his 4th over when ENG are 64/2. Bairstow leaves the ground after scoring 33 off 35 striking at 94. His cameo includes four 4s and one 6.

Next the batter, Harry Brook looks quite positive and takes on Rachin Ravindra for 3 straight boundaries but gets out when he attempts for the 4th one on the following ball. England are 94 for 3 at the end of 17. Brook goes for 25 off 16 striking the ball at 156 smashing four 4s and one 6. Moin Ali comes to the middle for the resumption.

England continue losing wickets at regular intervals and this time Moin Ali who tries for a back foot pull is bowled by Glenn Phillips on 118 in 22nd. Captain himself joins the squad to get over NZ bowlers who are tightening the screws time and again.

Joe Root stands firm and tall with his fifty in 57 balls striking at 88 including two 4s and one 6. Buttler has played some brillaint shots nicks of to Latham and 5 down for England. Next comes Livingston who joins one of the fab-4, Root, who has been solid throught the innings. Unfortunately, Liam Livingston couldn’t survive longer and chips in the air and caught by Henry. England are 221/6 at the end of 39 just before the end of the power play.

The final Power play is still haunting England as Joe Root’s Reverse sweep attempt gets him bowled. This time Philips, who is into his 2nd over cleans bowled set Root and leaves England in the lurch. Chris Woakes who comes to survive the last few overs miscues the ball from Snatner and gets out after scoring 11. England are 250/8 in 45.

Matt Henry proving himself as the man to watch with his superb bowling performance. He gets another wicket of Curren in his 9th over. Curren goes for 14 off 19 and lst man Mark Wood joins Adil Rashid at Ahmedabad for adding some runs to the tally.

England’s disappointment with the bat continues and NZ can bring their moral down by bowling them out before the 50th over. Adil and Wood survive the last 5 and added 30 to the tally. England are 282/9 at the end of 50.
