"Outside the field of play" ICC declines to take action against Muhammad Rizwan for his tweet honoring Gaza civilians after the World Cup match

According to reports, the International Cricket Council, or ICC, has declined to take action against Pakistani cricket player Muhammad Rizwan for his tweet honoring the people of Gaza after the team’s World Cup victory over Sri Lanka.

The ICC stated that it is up to the player and the cricket board to take action, arguing that it is outside of the playing field and outside of their purview.

Journalist Vikrant Gupta of Aaj Tak utilized X, a social media site that was formerly known as Twitter, to report that the ICC had declined to prosecute Muhammad Rizwan.

Cricket player Muhammad Rizwan of Pakistan, who is well-known for openly displaying his religiosity both on and off the field, caused a ruckus earlier today when he dedicated the team’s victory over Sri Lanka to the people of Gaza.

His tweets soon gained widespread attention and sparked strong comments on X, the former name of Twitter. Many users of social media urged the BCCI and ICC to take action against the cricket player for showing support for the people following the Hamas attacks.

Although the International Cricket Council attempted to distance itself from the matter by stating that it was outside the realm of sports, it is important to remember that Muhammad Rizwan, like many of his compatriots, is notorious for mixing politics, religion, and athletics.

He recently attracted a lot of attention when, during the second half of the cricket match against the Netherlands, he began to offer Namaz on the field while his colleagues waited for drinks during the break.

Rizwan had performed namaz on the site earlier in 2021. In the ICC T20 World Cup “Super 12” match, the team captained by Babar Azam defeated India by 10 wickets. Former Pakistani speed bowler Waqar Younis was ecstatic and said, “What I liked most is what Rizwan did.”

After Muhammad Rizwan, 31, used the cricket match as a platform to show off his faith in front of millions of people, he stood in the center of the field and read the prayers in front of the Hindus.
