Prior to the ODI World Cup, Sourav Ganguly named three crucial players for Team India in CWC 2023

Prior to the ODI World Cup, Sourav Ganguly named three crucial players for Team India in CWC 2023. Every day that passes, the anticipation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 grows. India will host the quadrennial event from October 5 to November 19.

With less than a month until the World Cup, experts have begun selecting their ideal roster and key players for the competing teams.

Sourav Ganguly, a former captain, has also jumped on board, selecting Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill as India’s three key players for the championship match.

“Virat is performing excellently. Along with Rohit Sharma, he has batted superbly over the past few months and has established himself as India’s go-to player. As captain, Rohit is competing in his first and final World Cup. Here, I’m referring to the 50-over World Cup, which will occur in 4 years. Although this is a different format, he could play T20, Ganguly said on the Backstage With Boria programme.

At the 2019 World Cup in England, Rohit scored the most runs. The right-handed opener had led India to the semifinals of the major competition with 648 runs from 9 innings at an average of 81 and five centuries. He also has a stellar track record in world cups.

On October 8, Australia, a five-time champion, will face India at Chepauk to open the ODI World Cup. The Asia Cup 2023, which began on Wednesday (August 30), will test the Men in Blue prior to that.
