AS Roma has officially confirmed that their recent acquisition, Leon Bailey, sustained a ‘myotendinous injury of the right rectus femoris’ on Wednesday. The club stated that further diagnostic tests are required to ascertain the precise extent of the problem.
The injury occurred during Bailey`s very first training session with Roma, just a mere few hours after the club announced his loan transfer from Aston Villa.
On Thursday morning, the Giallorossi released an official statement to provide an update on the Jamaican international`s condition.
Official Statement from AS Roma on Bailey`s Injury Status

“Leon Bailey is suspected to have suffered a myotendinous injury to his right rectus femoris at the conclusion of a training session on Wednesday, August 20,” read the statement from Roma.
“The player is scheduled to undergo additional diagnostic examinations in the forthcoming hours to determine the exact nature and severity of the injury.
“Bailey has already commenced rehabilitation treatment at the club`s Fulvio Bernardini training centre.”
Early Season Setback: Bailey Expected to Miss Initial Serie A Matches

While the exact period of Bailey`s recovery remains uncertain, numerous Italian media outlets, including Calciomercato.com, are reporting that it is highly improbable the Jamaican will be available for Roma’s opening two matches of the upcoming Serie A season.
AS Roma is set to kick off their 2025-26 Serie A campaign at home against Bologna on August 23, followed by an away fixture at Pisa on August 30.
In related transfer news, Roma has also strengthened their attacking options this summer with the signing of Evan Ferguson and continues to hold discussions with Manchester United regarding a potential move for Jadon Sancho.
