Senior Pakistani player makes grave accusations against the board, saying “PCB doesn’t want us to win the World Cup.” Pakistan’s performance in the present ICC World Cup 2023 makes it difficult to imagine that, just a few weeks ago, they were the top-ranked ODI team. Although they have always been erratic and occasionally unpredictable during significant occasions, their caliber has never been in question.

They were always a dangerous opponent and a strong contender for the championship. Pakistan was one of the teams hoping to win the coveted trophy in the 2023 World Cup, and they definitely possess the necessary components to have an impact.

However, the team hasn’t had that spark or magic, and as a result, they have lost four straight games, leaving their tournament fate in jeopardy. However, Babar Azam and his team’s shortcomings extend beyond the pitch. Deep-rooted issues exist because a senior player has accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of intentionally undermining the team’s World Cup campaign in India.

The claims coincide with a few days after PCB released a statement calling for further backing for Babar and his group and protesting “media scrutiny” of the group’s World Cup results. However, the release’s last line, which said that they had complete discretion over team selection, stood out as being a little concerning.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, the captain and chief selector, recently announced his resignation from the position due to a conflict of interest. Furthermore, according to the announcement, “the board will make decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket based on the team’s performances in the World Cup.”

“Don’t worry, PCB will assign blame to everyone. It’s just the nature of things. Starting a witch hunt on Babar Azam, Inzi, our coaches, or the management group is incredibly unfair. All I know is that the boys have made an effort, and the players and coaching staff have given it their all. They would be astounded to see how much work the players and staff put in,” he remarked.
