There are rumors that Babar’s leadership is under pressure, and the PCB is debating whether to replace the captain after Pakistan’s World Cup campaign comes to a conclusion. Waqar wasn’t pleased to see a supposed “personal chat” made public as rumors about it rage on social media.
The Pakistani channel’s display of the text said:
“Barbar, there’s also this rumor going around on social media and TV that you’ve been phoning Chairman and he hasn’t been returning your calls. “Have you spoken to him lately?” wrote the sender, Salman.
“Salam Salman bhai, ma ny to sir ko koi call nai ke (Hello brother, I did not call sir)” was the reply from the recipient, whose name was preserved as “Babar Azam New.”
Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup 2023 semi-finals are slim, as they have already lost four of their six games. Over the past few weeks, Babar Azam and his team have faced a great deal of criticism; some of their former players have even called for the captain’s dismissal.
