Sri Lanka Beat The Defending Champions England Comprehensively by 8 Wickets with 146 Balls Remaining ICC World Cup 2023

England’s bad run continues in the ICC World Cup 2023 after losing to inexperienced Sri Lankan young guns. They fought well right from the word go till the end. Sri Lanka was restricted to 156 and then chased down the target in 25.4 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. A comprehensive with a long jump on the point table. They are now at No.5, ahead of Pakistan, and eyeing the final four. 

Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama fought brilliantly after losing two wickets early. Both were together on the crease when the total was 23 on the board. Pathum Nissanka was the top-scorer of the match and Sadeera Samarawickrama yet again came up with another big inning in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Pathum Nissanka made 77 runs facing 83 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. His partner was Sadeera Samarawickrama also played a brilliant knock. His 65 of 54 balls at a crucial stage brought Sri Lanka back into the game. He is in supreme form which is a good sign for Sri Lanka.

There is nothing to talk about England’s bowling performance in this match. The only standout bowler was David Willey who took two wickets to give his team an outside chance. But there was no support from the rest of the bowlers.
