Sunil Gavaskar asks the BCCI to grant these previous captains "Golden Tickets" for the ODI World Cup in 2023

Sunil Gavaskar asks the BCCI to grant these previous captains “Golden Tickets” for the ODI World Cup in 2023. On October 5, the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 will get underway at ten various locations throughout India. India is the first country to exclusively hold this esteemed international competition. India has co-hosted the World Cup in the past in 1987, 1996, and 2011.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has launched a historic effort in the run-up to this historic tournament by creating the “Golden Ticket” program, which provides unique passes to well-known individuals in the nation.

Amitabh Bachchan, a legendary figure in Bollywood, received the first ticket when the program debuted in September. The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah then carried on this custom by giving Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing legend, the same prestigious ticket.

By introducing the “Golden Pass,” the BCCI has increased the excitement surrounding the ICC Cricket World Cup and established a special venue for honoring notable people who have made noteworthy contributions to the country.

Sunil Gavaskar, a well-known former Indian cricketer, praised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their admirable initiative and called the “Golden Pass” scheme a “terrific one.”

“It’s a fantastic decision by BCCI secretary Jay Shah to recognize individuals who have rendered outstanding contributions in their respective fields. As of this writing, Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar have each been awarded a golden ticket to see a World Cup game, according to Gavaskar’s Sportstar column.”

The 74-year-old also listed the names of notable people who, in his opinion, ought to receive the coveted “Golden Ticket.” Two legendary World Cup winning cricket captains, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, who made a lasting impact on Indian cricket, are among his choices.

Gavaskar further emphasized the honorable inclusion of S. Somnath, the acclaimed head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), whose leadership has fueled India’s successes in space research, and Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic gold winner whose victory gave pride to the country.

It is unknown how many additional people are on the list, but it is hoped that the ISRO director under whose watch India made its lunar landing will be one of them. Of course, the two World Cup champion captains, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kapil Dev, are two other players who deserve to receive the golden ticket. Another person who comes to mind for the BCCI golden ticket is gold medalist in athletics Neeraj Chopra, said the former right-handed batter.
