Video of non-striker Babar Azam attempting to stop a teammate’s ball hit goes viral.Pakistan’s Babar Azam has travelled to Australia wearing the Test jersey in an attempt to put the Cricket World Cup 2023 behind him. After his poor performance in the white-ball competition, Babar opted to give up captaincy duties across all three formats of the game. 

Now, the talismanic batsman is only concerned with performing well with the bat, and his immediate task is the Test series Down Under. In the practise match, against the Prime Minister’s XI, Babar did something that caused a tumultu.

Pakistan played a practise match against the Prime Minister’s XI before to the commencement of the Test series against Australia. Shan Masood smashed the ball down the ground on a delivery delivered by Beau Webster. Babar, who is not a striker, attempted to catch the ball with his hands as it passed him, but it was a bit too far away.

Upon witnessing Babar’s antics, Cricket Australia ridiculed the former captain of Pakistan, posting a video of the event along with the comment, “Babar Azam keeping himself in the game at the non-striker’s end…. “

Pakistan’s cricket team has seen significant transformations since the 2023 ODI World Cup concluded. In an attempt to revitalise its cricket, the PCB also appointed Wahab Riaz as its new head selector and added a few advisors. Mohammad Hafeez, a former all-round player, joined Pakistani cricket as the new team director.

Babar was replaced as Pakistan’s T20I captain by Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shan Masood was chosen the team’s Test captain. The PCB hasn’t decided on the ODI captain’s name yet.

Babar’s only goal going into the Test assignment in Australia would be to go back to his batting form, especially since he is no longer responsible for leadership.
