West Indies Announces Historic First as World Cup Gears up

Let’s take a look at West Indies announces historic first as World Cup gears up.

At the beginning of the following month, the West Indies will play a three-game ODI series against the UAE in Sharjah to get ready for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

Attempting to secure a spot at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at the end of the year will depend on the Caribbean team’s performance in the first bilateral series between the West Indies and the UAE.

The two time world cup winners missed out on the automatic qualification slots for this year’s competition at the ICC Men’s cricket World Cup and will only participate in the 2023 tournament if they finish in the top two at the qualifier held in zimbabwe in june and july.

The UAE earned their spot in the event by a well deserved second place result at the recent ICC Men’s cricket world Cup qualifier playoff, and they will face the west Indies in these important warm up matches.

Jimmy Adams, a former cricketer and current director of the cricket for the west indies, thinks the three match series will be a great way for his team to warm up for the qualifying event. He also looks forward to working with the Emirtaes cricket board on future visits in the years to come.

“This is our first ever bilateral tour against the UAE, and we are pleased to have agreed on this historic three match ODI series as it will provides a good opportunity for our players to get some preparation ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers” Adam says.

Additionally, it will give players who are not travelling to Zimbabwae the chance to gain important international experience in foreign settings.which will be very helpful for their personal growth and development.

We are pleased to collaborate closely with the ECB to organize the three matches and we will see this as a collaboration that grows over time.
