Leading figures within Barcelona’s first-team squad have conveyed their gratitude and well wishes to their teammate, Robert Lewandowski.
This comes shortly after the Polish striker made his final appearance as a Barcelona player on the Spotify Camp Nou pitch.
Lewandowski confirmed earlier this week that he will be leaving Barcelona this summer upon the conclusion of his contract.
Following the team’s last home match of the season on Sunday night, the 37-year-old veteran was honored by players, fans, and staff.
Among those who publicly praised Lewandowski after the game were midfielders Gavi and winger Raphinha.
Gavi shared his thoughts with the media:
“I will miss Robert greatly. He is among the greatest strikers in history. I always wish him the best. It’s a shame he is leaving; he helped us immensely.”
Raphinha added:
“Robert’s legacy will be permanently etched in this club. He is an inspiration. It was a genuine pleasure for me to play alongside him.”
Lamine Yamal, who was unavailable for the match against Real Betis due to injury, also took to social media to refer to his departing teammate as a ‘legend’.
