Barcelona is poised to receive a financial boost from the impending transfer of midfielder Sergi Altimira, who is reportedly close to joining Sporting CP from La Liga rivals Real Betis.
The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder is on the brink of a move to Portugal, with an agreement reportedly in place between Sporting CP and Real Betis for a transfer fee of €18 million, according to market expert Fabrizio Romano.
This transfer will also benefit Barcelona, who previously had Altimira in their youth academy from 2012 to 2019. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will receive approximately €400,000 through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, which compensates clubs for training and developing players.
Sabadell, the club Altimira transferred to from Barcelona, is also entitled to a portion of the transfer fee.
