BCCI Provides a medical update on Shubman Gill before Ind vs Afg 2023 match. A medical report on India opener Shubman Gill has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Shubman Gill missed India’s 2023 World Cup opening match against Australia due to illness.
The cricket organization has stated that Gill won’t be able to play in India’s forthcoming match against Afghanistan on October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The BCCI’s medical staff will be in charge of the right-handed batter while he is in Chennai. The choice was made as a preventative measure because the Men in Blue had nine round-robin games left until the knockout stage.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have departed for Delhi to play in their subsequent World Cup match. In a statement released on Monday, October 9, BCCI stated:
Shubman Gill, the squad’s batsman, won’t be going to Delhi with the team on October 9, 2023. The team’s opening batter, who missed the team’s first game against Australia in Chennai as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, is expected to miss the team’s upcoming game against Afghanistan on October 11.
As it is before the commencement of every major tournament, the atmosphere is generally positive. We’ve prepared ourselves quite well for this competition, so we feel pretty good about our talent level. The game is something we are anticipating. Everyone is healthy. Gill is sickly but not entirely sick.

Thus, there is no risk of damage. Gill’s health isn’t good. We keep an eye on him every day. We’ll give him every opportunity to get better and then see how he feels. Therefore, he has not yet been ruled out, Rohit remarked in a press conference prior to the match against Australia.
Ishan will probably start Rohit in place of Gill versus Afghanistan. The left-handed batsman was unable to even bat for himself against Australia. He would be eager to turn things around with Afghanistan.
Shreyas Iyer is also probably going to bat in the middle order for India’s second World Cup game with Gill out. Additionally, he was ejected against Australia for a duck.
