La Liga side Elche has officially announced the permanent acquisition of midfielder Gonzalo Villar. This move solidifies the club’s midfield for the long term, following Villar’s impactful loan spell.

Villar, who initially returned to La Liga in January, joined Elche on a short-term deal after spending six months with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia. The former Granada player quickly became a vital component of Elche’s squad.

During his loan spell, Villar made 12 appearances, playing a crucial role in helping Eder Sarabia’s team avoid relegation to the second tier of Spanish football. His performances were instrumental in convincing the club’s management to pursue a permanent transfer.

Elche confirmed the agreement on their official website and social media channels, stating: “Elche CF has reached an agreement with GNK Dinamo Zagreb for the permanent transfer of midfielder Gonzalo Villar.
