Real Madrid, a prominent club in La Liga, has maintained its interest in signing Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. This comes after recent significant developments regarding the future of the French international, announced on Friday.
Following months of contract extension negotiations at Anfield, an agreement could not be reached between Konaté and Liverpool.
Consequently, Konaté is expected to leave Liverpool as a free agent in the coming weeks. Among the clubs interested in the defender, as Real Madrid seeks to bolster their defensive line, are the Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid.
Earlier this season, Los Blancos were strongly linked with Konaté. However, these rumors subsided with the expectation that the 27-year-old would remain at Merseyside. If recent reports from France are accurate, then Florentino Pérez and his team are ready to rekindle their pursuit.
According to a report from L’Équipe, “Following a very disappointing season, the Spanish club has recognized the necessity to reinforce their defense. Konaté is a target they are pursuing.”
