Hafeez denied extention after terrible team performance

Hafeez denied extention after terrible team performance. After a three-month term marked by underwhelming performances against Australia and New Zealand, Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez will not be given a three-month extension. During Hafeez’s tenure, Pakistan lost four Twenty20 international matches against New Zealand and three Test matches against Australia. They only managed a narrow victory in one T20I match.

Hafeez met with Shah Khawer, the acting chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, after his taxing travels. There were talks about a possible extension through the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination after Hafeez reportedly failed to satisfy the acting chairman, according to sources.

Mickey Arthur relinquished his position as team director to Hafeez, who lacked official coaching credentials. Hafeez’s initial appointment was for a three-month period, and it ended on January 14. The IPC Ministry has not given consent in spite of a recommendation for a four-year extension.

Hafeez blamed the team’s subpar performances on the senior players’ inattention to their national team responsibilities. Hafeez’s tactics during the series against New Zealand came under heavy fire from Mohammad Rizwan, who publicly blamed the defeats on alterations in the batting lineup.

Hafeez tried to emphasize accountability and integrate younger players, but the approach did not work as planned.
