"I'll select Tilak Varma for India's ODI World Cup instead of Suryakumar Yadav" Ex-Indian player bypasses veteran MI star in favour of youngster

“I’ll select Tilak Varma for India’s ODI World Cup instead of Suryakumar Yadav” Ex-Indian player bypasses veteran MI star in favour of youngster. Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian cricket star, recently spoke with ESPNcricinfo to express his support for Tilak Varma, a young player, being selected for India’s ODI World Cup 2023 team. Jaffer claims that Suryakumar Yadav, who currently has a spot, has not performed well in recent ODI appearances.

Jaffer revealed that the squad for India’s upcoming World Cup will probably resemble the team competing in the Asia Cup 2023. Prasidh Krishna and Suryakumar Yadav might not make the World Cup team if it were up to him, though he suggested two notable changes.

Tilak Varma or Suryakumar Yadav would be a difficult choice if I were to remove Prasidh Krishna. Even so, I’ll choose Tilak Varma

Jaffer expressed optimism about the Indian team’s overall preparedness for the international competition despite acknowledging that there are some areas of concern within it.

The only thing that worried me was whether Jasprit Bumrah could bowl 10 overs, but we never got to see that. But because he performed well in Ireland, I hope he is fine. KL Rahul hasn’t played yet, but I’m hoping he’ll be fine once he passes the fitness test. We’ll see if he gets to play or not,” the former India batter said.

On Monday, September 4, India played Nepal in the Asia Cup, and cricket fans and analysts were closely watching the team’s performance. Jaffer’s remarks have intensified current discussions.
