In terms of the 2023 World Cup, Kevin Pietersen thinks Pakistan is “always a threat.” The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is quickly approaching, and as the countries are preparing for the major competition, retired cricketers are evaluating the opposition and picking the favorites.

In a similar vein, former England batter Kevin Pietersen listed prospective World Cup candidates on his X, formerly Twitter, account and provided justifications.

Pakistan is renowned for being unpredictable since they frequently succeed when no one else does. For the same reason that the Green Shirts should never be underestimated on the grandest stage, Pietersen declared them a favorite.

Pietersen also listed South Africa, India, England, and, of course, Australia as other favorites. The Proteas, in the former batter’s opinion, became unquestionably favorites following their most recent ODI series victory against Australia. Heinrich Klaasen, a destructive batter who recently scored a staggering 174 off 83, was touted as the team’s main asset.

India will play at home in front of a sizable audience under ideal playing circumstances. It is hardly surprising that Pietersen named them favorites given their previous performance in the Asia Cup.

The former cricketer cited England and India in addition to the 15-man group that the defending Champions announced, noting that it has tremendous depth and match-winners.

Australia is a team that no one can discount when it comes to the World Cup, and Pietersen agreed, labeling them one of the favorites.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will be held in India from October 5 to November 19, with 10 nations vying for the coveted championship at 10 different locations. The tournament’s opening match and the championship game will both be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

With 45 league matches altogether, the Cricket World Cup will be contested in a round-robin format with all teams competing against one another.
