KL Rahul has clinched a spot at No. 4 as the World Cup's wicketkeeper-batter: Gambhir, Gautam

KL Rahul has clinched a spot at No. 4 as the World Cup’s wicketkeeper-batter: Gambhir, Gautam. Gautam Gambhir, a former opener for India, claims that star Indian batter KL Rahul has locked down his berth at No. 4 as the wicketkeeper batter for the next ODI World Cup, adding that currently there is still a fight for the fifth spot.

Against Pakistan in his Asia Cup debut, Rahul made a spectacular comeback to international cricket on Sunday. After being hurt during the Indian Premier League, Rahul had been sidelined since May.

After that, he underwent surgery and required extensive recuperation. Rahul, though, came alive in Colombo after being given the all-clear, scoring a stunning century against Pakistan and inspiring India to a memorable triumph over their bitter enemies.

Ishan Kishan was the primary wicket-keeper for India, so if Kishan had been playing against Australia on the 11th, he would have kept wickets. However, in the last two games, KL Rahul has kept wicket, so I believe the team management has made it very likely that Rahul will keep in the World Cup.

Who will bat at position No. 5 is still up in the air, according to Gambhir’s further musing. Adding Shreyas Iyer, playing Suryakumar at 7, Hardik at 5, or setting Jadeja at 5 are all options. But it is certain that KL Rahul would bat at number four and serve as the wicketkeeper. Gambhir commended.

The fifth spot is now available, therefore. KL Rahul has now clinched the number four place as a wicketkeeper-batsman, regardless of whether Shreyas Iyer enters the fray, whether they play Suryakumar at seven and Hardik at five or Jadeja at five. Therefore, it is very obvious, which is wonderful for Indian cricket, that they have supported KL Rahul as a wicketkeeper currently and who is batting at number four,” Gambhir continued.
