Former Barcelona star Luis Suárez has shared his thoughts on the Catalan club’s search for a new center-forward this summer. The Uruguayan legend believes that Barcelona should prioritize signing Julián Álvarez from La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.
Suárez, who has enjoyed successful spells leading the attack for both Barcelona and Atlético, winning league titles with each, was asked for his opinion on Barcelona’s striker search. With Robert Lewandowski’s departure creating a void, the club is reportedly targeting Julián Álvarez as their primary candidate.
The 39-year-old striker fully supports this decision, stating that Álvarez possesses all the necessary qualities to thrive at Barcelona. Suárez highlighted Álvarez’s all-around game, not just his goal-scoring ability, as what makes him one of the most complete forwards in world football.
“If I had to choose a striker for Barcelona, I’d choose Julián Álvarez,” Suárez commented. “He has everything needed to succeed there. For me, he’s one of the most complete forwards in world football because of everything he contributes, not just goals.”
