New Zealand won the toss and offered England to bat first. Bairstow started the match with a six on the second ball of the match. It was a decent start for the defending champions but they start losing wickets at regular intervals. Everyone chipped in and got out due to which there was no momentum, yet England scored 282 runs which was a decent total. Root and Buttler were the pick of the batters.

Both batters batted till the end of the chase. They added 273 runs together which is itself a great achievement. Both of them socred their 100s in style. In fact, Devon Conway passed 150 runs.
Ravindra got to his maiden century consuming only 82 deliveries. His innings had everything, aggression, defence, big shots, doubles, and singles. He scored most of his runs in boundaries. His innings included 11 Fours and 5 sixes.
On the other hand, Conway looked a bit slower at the start, but then changed gears as the innings went on. He scored 152 runs for 121 balls with a healthy strike rate. Out of his 152 runs, 96 runs were scored through boundaries. 19 fours and 3 sixes helped him to chase the total in style.
New Zeland finished the match in 36.2 overs with a healthy run rate that might come into play as the tournament progresses. England has to keep their head up in order to stay in the tournament. They failed in every department, batting, and bowling.
