Reale Mutua Secures First Road Win in Pistoia
Reale Mutua Torino earned their first away victory, defeating Pistoia 84-77. The team displayed confidence on offense, especially from long range, building an early lead and finishing the first quarter up by ten points (30-20).
Pistoia rallied in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to three points. However, Torino maintained offensive consistency, with Terry Allen scoring 18 points and Zach Harvey adding 14 by halftime. Torino led 49-43 at the break, shooting efficiently from the field (11/18 two-pointers, 8/14 three-pointers) but needing defensive improvements.
Pistoia increased defensive pressure after halftime, capitalizing on a dip in Torino's play. Led by Ife Ajayi and an offense from former Torino player Matteo Schina, Pistoia briefly took the lead, 58-56. Torino responded, regaining the advantage through Allen's scoring and strong rebounding, ending the third quarter ahead 67-63.
In the final quarter, Pistoia pushed for a close finish, while Torino navigated foul trouble for Allen. The team tightened their defense and extended their lead back into double digits thanks to Harvey's play. Despite a late push from Pistoia's Schina, Torino remained composed, with Faloppa and Ghirlanda securing the final possessions for an 84-77 victory.
Coach Paolo Moretti expressed his satisfaction: "I'm very happy for my guys. They deserved this after a difficult week following last Sunday's clear defeat. We wanted to bounce back and offer a different performance than our debut. Pistoia pushed us several times, but we never gave up, continuing to play together and share the ball. We're very pleased with this win, for us and for our fans."
