Shikhar Dhawan's World Cup Selection is Desired by an ex-Indian Player: "Even If He Doesn't Play"

Shikhar Dhawan’s World Cup selection is desired by an ex-Indian player: “Even If He Doesn’t Play”. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India later this year. For the prized tournament that occurs every four years, preparations are in full flow. From October 5 through November 19 in 10 different cities, India will host the tournament. India is hosting the 50-over World Cup by themselves for the first time. The itinerary for the event has already been released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian cricketer, has unveiled his ideal 15-man Indian team for the next ODI World Cup 2023. Jaffer chose Shikhar Dhawan as the backup opener and chose Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Dhawan for the opening positions. Dhawan isn’t now a member of the team for the West Indies series, but Jaffer thinks he can be an important reserve option for the World Cup.

Jaffer’s selection of Dhawan, who hasn’t played in ODIs in a while, is among the most unexpected. Jaffer chose Virat Kohli to bat third, Shreyas Iyer fourth, KL Rahul fifth, and Hardik Pandya sixth in the middle order. He chose Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as his top choices for the spin department. The current West Indies series team includes Jadeja, Patel, and Kuldeep.

Jaffer selected Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj/Mohammad Shami as his two specialised fast bowlers, with the latter being rotated based on the game’s circumstances. Jaffer also named Shardul Thakur and Sanju Samson as backups, with Samson filling in for Rishabh Pant as the backup wicketkeeper. Samson is another player who has played intermittently for India in cricket during the past several years. Jaffer announced his team during a JioCinema discussion.

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammad Shami, Sanju Samson, and Shardul Thakur make up Wasim Jaffer’s proposed Indian World Cup roster.

If he bowls, I’ll try to field three spinners, and since Axar and Jadeja are all-arounders, I’ll field both of them. Of course, Kuldeep will be my third spinner. Shardul Thakur will be my fourth seamer. Shikhar has been chosen as my third opener, thus Sanju Samson will serve as my backup keeper.
