Sri Lanka Is Eyeing The Semi-Final Spot After Restricting The Defending Champion Cheaply

Sri Lanka is looking good against England after getting them bowled out on 156 in a very crucial match for both teams. Sri Lanka and England are staying at the bottom of the points table and need a win today badly. But Sri Lanka was impressive in the first half of the match. The experience of Angelo Mathews worked for Sri Lanka. Even though Sri Lanka missed a review on the first ball match, managed to get them all out on 156 runs in a must-win game for both teams. 

England won the toss and elected to bat first to put pressure on the relatively inexperienced Sri Lanka teams but they took too much pressure themselves. Ben Stokes was the top scorer of the England batting lineup. He made 43 runs facing 73 balls. Malan and Bairstow gave a flying start of 45 runs in 6.3 overs but the other batters couldn’t capitalize on that. England lost wickets at regular intervals and ended up 156 all-out with Stokes the top scorer of the inning.

All Sri Lanka bowlers were quite impressive and economical too. They bowled the channels which they were required. Except for Dilshan Madushanka who bowled exceptionally well all the Sri Lanka bowlers got wickets. But the pick of the bowlers was Lahiru Kumara who got 3 wickets for 35 runs in his 7 overs spell. The important thing about his bowling was taking wickets in the middle when Moin and Stokes were looking good. 

Sri Lanka needs to chase 157 runs to grab their second win of the tournament and keep alive their hopes of the Semi-Finals. England will be looking to defend the target as they are the defending champions.
