Former Manchester United and England icon Wayne Rooney has recently expressed his admiration for Real Madrid’s talented midfielder, Jude Bellingham. This praise comes on the heels of Bellingham’s latest standout performance on the international stage.
England recently competed in a World Cup group stage match against Panama late on Saturday night. The Three Lions found it challenging to break down their opponents, with Panama managing to hold on until the 60-minute mark.
However, it was Jude Bellingham who eventually opened the scoring, finding the back of the net from a corner kick. The midfielder then provided the assist for Harry Kane’s decisive goal, delivering a performance worthy of a Man of the Match award in New York.
Speaking on BBC’s punditry coverage early Sunday morning about England’s World Cup performance, Wayne Rooney did not hesitate to highlight his high regard for Bellingham’s skills:
“Jude Bellingham? In tough moments, you need a player who can carry the team through. When I think of players like that in those situations, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, and Jude Bellingham come to mind.”
