'What a Downgrade' ICC Releases World Cup 2023 Poster, and Cricket Fans Are Disappointed

‘What a Downgrade’: ICC Releases World Cup 2023 Poster, and Cricket Fans Are Disappointed. The International Cricket Council (ICC) just released the official poster for India’s hosting of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. It showed all ten team captains posing with the coveted trophy against Mumbai’s stunning background, including the reigning champions, England. But there’s a catch: this isn’t the official captain’s photo!

Fans, on the other hand, couldn’t help but be disappointed since, instead of some stunning images of the skippers, they were presented with a digitally manipulated composition that, in their opinion, fell short.

Social media erupted with reactions, and the poster was subjected to a barrage of criticism. “OK, no words for a ‘World Cup’ poster,” one commenter mocked. Another person commented, mocking the artwork, “Loving the super bad art.” The third user was equally blunt, calling it a “warra downgrade.”

The discontent did not end there. One user also commented that it appeared to be an AI-edited photo, accompanied with a disappointed face emoji. Indeed!

Soon after, the comparison game began, with fans comparing this year’s lacklustre poster to the previous edition’s classy and majestic composition, fueling the displeasure even further. Fans reminisced over the great past, particularly the awe-inspiring poster of the 2019 World Cup, which featured India’s previous captain Virat Kohli and other skippers oozing grandeur in a picture-perfect snap!

“We went from receiving the WC schedule 13 months in advance to receiving last-minute changes in a schedule announced two months prior.” There is no theme music or hype. The captain’s poster transitioned from this to this. “You can’t think of a bigger downgrade,” one user said while placing the images next to each other. “But no poster can match this swag!!” exclaimed someone else.
