PCB notifies ICC after India's travel plans are hampered by a visa issue

PCB notifies ICC after India’s travel plans are hampered by a visa issue. Prior to traveling to Hyderabad for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team was scheduled to meet up in Dubai for a team-building camp.

At the conclusion of the Asia Cup campaign last week, they apparently submitted their passports to the Indian Embassy in Pakistan, although they are still the only competing nation without a visa for entry to India. According to a new source, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the problem that has interfered with their World Cup plans on Friday and is now waiting for a response.

The Pakistan World Cup team members were supposed to fly to Dubai the following week for a quick visit before flying to Hyderabad, where they will play their first warm-up match against New Zealand on September 29. Due to the visa holdup, the team will now have to depart from Lahore on Wednesday for Dubai, and then immediately fly to Hyderabad, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The PCB had brought up the matter with the ICC, according to a Saturday night story in the New Indian Express, and they were hoping for a favorable answer from the governing body.

As soon as the players arrived home from the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, the passports were turned in. The visas have not yet been delivered. The PCB changed its plan to hold a two-day team-bonding camp in Dubai as a result, and the ICC was informed of the situation, a PCB official familiar with the situation told The New Indian Express.

The 1992 ODI world champions are visiting their neighboring country, but the visa issue does highlight the renewed political tension between India and Pakistan. In actuality, since 2012, neither team has crossed the border for a bilateral series or held one at a neutral site. Pakistan’s most recent trip to India was for the 2016 T20 World Cup.
