Cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka selects Team India as the favourites for the 2023 ODI World Cup

Cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka selects Team India as the favourites for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka has chosen his favourite group of players for the forthcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which begins on October 5 in India.

‘GOAT’ of spin, Muralitharan, identified four sides that can win the World Cup this year while speaking on ANI.

The ODI World Cup will begin on October 5 with a match between 2019 champions England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, with the competition’s conclusion taking place there on November 19 on Sunday. On October 8, Australia will play India in Chennai to open the competition.

He asserts that India has an advantage in the competition and that Pakistan, England, and Australia also have a chance to win the prized trophy.

The advantage India has in this World Cup is due to the fact that it is a very good team. Then they have the benefit of playing at home; the positive energy generated by the billion Indians is felt everywhere, which helps the players. They are, in my opinion, the clear favourite, followed by Australia, England, and perhaps Pakistan. I’m going to choose my four favourites,” Muralitharan stated.

Muralitharan also said that having luck on your side is necessary to win a major competition, citing England’s World Cup victory in 2019.

“Luck is necessary; it is significant. New Zealand would have easily defeated England to claim the last World Cup, he continued.

Speaking of superstitious beliefs, the former Sri Lankan spinner revealed that when luck was on Sri Lanka’s side, nobody used to get up from their seats.

There are many superstitious folks. If you’re lucky, you might wear the same outfit the following day, and if runs are scored, we just sit still. Even if someone stands up, we tell him to sit back down and to go to the loo after the oven is through.

Fans believe that we take things for granted, but in reality, we are more serious than they are since it is our career and we are representing our country on the pitch. Regarding the expectations supporters have of players, he remarked, “We always want to win and consider how to win.
