Ind vs Pak is the mother of all games will be a pressure match for both teams on the ground. Pakistan will miss the support of the Indian fans. Pressure will be hard to control in front of 130 thousand spectators sporting one team. So, who will be the best fit to open the inning along with Abdullah Shafique?

Muhammad Waseem said, “ Imam and Fakhar both are out of form. Imam would have preference over Fakhar even if he was showing some intent that he is middling the ball well but not scoring runs. If Pakistan wants to gamble on both openers then Fakhar will be a good choice. He is a big match player and carries that X-factor tag with him.”

Abdullah Shafique has already cemented his place for the coming few matches or maybe the rest of the World Cup. But there is a tussle between out-of-form players Imam and Fakhar for that one opening slot.

Fakhar Zaman’s record against India is very good. The final of the champion’s trophy will be still playing in the minds of Indian bowlers. Fakhar can rise to the occasion. The inning he played against Australia in the Semi-Final of the 2021 T20 World Cup was exceptional. He is a big match player and Pakistan should take a chance on him. Give him one more chance to prove himself that he is still one of the better top-order batters.

Fakhar is the only player who has scored a double hundred in this format. In his 78 innings of ODI career, he has scored 3284 with a healthy average of almost 45. The strike rate is about 92. Ten 100s and Fifteen 50s is a remarkable achievement. All these stats show that he should be in the squad for Imam.
