ICC accepts DRS misfire in Pakistan, during South Africa crucial faceoff. The ICC acknowledges that the DRS malfunctioned during the pivotal encounter between Pakistan and South Africa.The International Cricket Council has acknowledged that the Decision Review System (DRS) made a mistake on Friday at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during a pivotal Pakistani match against free-scoring South Africa.

The Protest defeated Pakistan by one wicket following a tense match, making it challenging for the Men in Green to guarantee their passage to the ICC World Cup 2023 semifinals.

The Pakistani quicks gave it their all to secure the win and went above and beyond to secure the crucial single wicket. Conversely, the Proteas needed to score eight runs to win the game. The ball struck Tabrez Shamsi’s pad when he was facing Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf. 

The replay film showed that half of Rauf’s ball was hitting the stumps, as seen by everyone in the world, but the third umpire decided not to overrule the other umpire.

In a same vein, an additional match decision sparked controversy on social media, forcing the ICC to issue an explanation.

This time, in the match’s 19th over, Proteas batsman Rassie van der Dussen was up against Osama Mir when a ball struck his pads, prompting the field side to file an appeal for the ruling. Dussen was ruled out by the umpire, but the DRS was protested.

The film from the first review indicated that the ball had gone wide of the first wicket, however footage from a different camera position revealed that the ball had really touched the wickets.

Cricket fans began to doubt the effectiveness of DRS on social media, and the ICC was forced to provide an explanation.

The ICC explained the situation by stating that the batsman was pronounced out and that the first DRS playback was incorrect.
