Former Real Madrid stalwart Pepe has voiced his aspirations for the club’s recent acquisition, Ibrahima Konaté, to achieve significant success.
Defender Konaté has recently committed his future to the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, by signing a contract.
After opting not to extend his agreement with Liverpool, the French international was secured by Real Madrid as a free agent.
Konaté is coming off a disappointing final season at Anfield, where the 27-year-old appeared to be a shadow of his former capabilities.
However, in the years preceding, he had established himself as one of Europe’s premier central defenders, receiving praise for his contributions both with and without the ball.
One figure who is particularly hopeful that Konaté will recapture his former brilliance while playing for his new team is a legendary defender from the Bernabéu.
During a recent media interaction, Pepe, who represented Real Madrid for a decade, shared his thoughts:
“I am a great admirer of Ibrahima Konaté. My hope is that he surpasses my own achievements. If he does, it will signify that the club is performing exceptionally well and that we are securing trophies. That is my ultimate wish.”
