AS Roma is now directing its attention towards Olympique Marseille`s winger, Jonathan Rowe, with a potential price tag of approximately €20 million. This strategic shift comes after the Giallorossi`s initial target, Igor Paixão, completed a lucrative transfer to France.
The Roman club had been actively searching for an attacking wide player to complement the tactical vision of their new coach, Gian Piero Gasperini. Paixão was among the top candidates considered for this role.
However, it soon became apparent that acquiring the Feyenoord talent would prove excessively costly. Today, Olympique Marseille finalized a deal for Paixão, surpassing Leeds United with an offer totaling €30 million, augmented by €5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Jonathan Rowe Emerges as Roma`s New Target

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Roma has pivoted its recruitment efforts towards Rowe, a player whose place at Marseille is now being filled by the newly acquired Paixão.
Rowe recently celebrated a victory in the Under-21 European Championship with England. His move to Marseille from Norwich City was completed for an overall sum of €16.5 million, following an initial loan period.
Atalanta had also expressed interest in the 22-year-old winger, viewing him as a potential alternative if their Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman were to transfer to Inter Milan.
With Paixão`s arrival, Marseille appears more amenable to selling Rowe, and the rumored asking price for the player currently stands at €20 million.
During the last season, Rowe registered a commendable performance for Marseille, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 28 appearances in Ligue 1.
