Barcelona goalkeeper Iñaki Peña set for bargain €3m transfer to Panathinaikos

Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Iñaki Peña, is reportedly on the verge of completing a permanent move away from the club.

It is understood that the shot-stopper is close to signing a contract with the prominent Greek club, Panathinaikos.

Peña has just concluded a loan spell away from the Spotify Camp Nou.

After it became apparent that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick did not have him in his immediate plans, the 27-year-old joined La Liga rivals Elche on a year-long loan agreement.

During his 16 appearances in Spain’s top division, the former Spanish youth international reportedly made a significant impression on the management at Panathinaikos.

According to journalist Juli Claramunt of Jijantes:

“Iñaki Peña is one step away from transferring to Panathinaikos FC. The goalkeeper wished to finalize his future as soon as possible and will depart, leaving less than €3 million in Barça’s coffers.”
